Studio Ponoc's new anime film has a release date

Read...
After unveiling it more than two years ago and after some production delays, Studio Ponoc's new anime film finally has a release date in theaters at home.
The anime is titled The Imaginary and is the adaptation of the book of the same name by A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett who tells the story of Rudger, a boy born from the imagination of the young Amanda that therefore no one can see and who lives in a world where the imagination can live and be eaten by others. An extraordinarily touching and beautiful hand-drawn fantasy film in which Rudger and his new friends from "The Imaginaries Town" embark on an adventure where the future and fate of those they love is at stake.

It is the second feature film produced by the young Japanese animation studio founded by Yoshiaki Nishimura, born in 1977, a long-time producer at the Studio Ghibli.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose (former Studio Ghibli character designer), the film was set for a summer 2022 release, postponed without a date due to the pandemic and "new challenges" in the making, the film will finally see the light on December 15.
