The young and talented Japanese animation studio Ponoc presented a few hours ago the first animations of its new film currently in production: The Imaginary.
After Mary and the Witch's Flower (2017) and the short series Modest Heroes (2018), it's the turn of the second feature film for the studios founded by Studio Ghibli former producer Yoshiaki Nishimura.

The anime is titled The Imaginary and is the adaptation of the book of the same name by A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett who tells the story of Rudger, a boy born from the imagination of the young Amanda that therefore no one can see and who lives in a world where the imagination can live and be eaten by others. An extraordinarily touching and beautiful hand-drawn fantasy film in which Rudger and his new friends from "The Imaginaries Town" embark on an adventure where the future and fate of those they love is at stake.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose (former Studio Ghibli character designer), the film is slated to hit Japanese theaters in Summer 2022.
