Golden Globes only like American animated films

Read...
The candidates for the Golden Globes 2020, the cinema and TV awards assigned by the HFPA, were announced. Below the news of the animation industry.
The awards, we remember, are assigned by a jury of about ninety journalists of the foreign press enrolled in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with the delivery ceremony to be held on January 5th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

However, the category Best Motion Pictures - Animated will only feature titles from major American studios. But just this year numerous other titles produced in Europe and Asia would deserve more.

Here the nominees:

- Frozen 2 (Walt Disney Animation Studios)

- Hot To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (DreamWorks Animation)

- The Lion King (Walt Disney Pictures)

- Missing Link (Laika)

- Toy Story 4 (Pixar Animation Studios)

Frozen 2 and The Lion King are also candidates in the Best Original Song - Motion Pictures category.

Note: this edition see the overtaking of Netflix among major producers of both feature films and series, a studios hated by competitors who do not look favorably on the intrusion of the streaming world into the classic world of theaters.

In the section dedicated to feature films Netflix collects 17 nominations while Sony only 8 and Disney only 6. In the television section instead Netflix with 17 nominations it surpasses HBO which stops only at 15.
