New films and sequels - All Pixar and Disney shows through 2024

Read...
On the occasion of D23 Expo, the Disney studios announced the line-up of titles in the works and the news. Below all the feature, info and visual.
The first film to hit the big screens around the world this year is Strange World, the work of Walt Disney Animation Studios directed by Don Hall (director of Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon), co-directed and written by Qui Nguyen (co-writer of Raya and the Last Dragon) and produced by Roy Conli.

The film, which will arrive in theaters on November 23, 2022 , will take us on a journeys deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest - and by far - most crucial mission.

Take a look to the first tease on this page, and here a new image of the main characters:

The 27th film from the Pixar studios is Elemental, directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur) and produced by Denise Ream (Cars 2).

The story takes place in a world where the four elements (fire, water, earth and air) are alive and coexist side by side. The film will follow Ember, a fiery young woman made of fire, and Wade, a boy who follows the flow, composed entirely of water, and the unlikely couple that the two make up given the two totally opposite elements.

In theaters on June 16, 2023, here a new image and a teaser poster:

Back to the Disney studios for a film much closer to their musical/comedy classics with Wish, which will celebrate the studios' 100th anniversary. Described as an epic animated musical, the film answers the question: "How was the star towards which so many Disney characters expressed their wishes was born?".

The film is set in Rosas, a realm where wishes can literally come true. Asha is a girl full of optimism and intelligent, who cares very much about her community. In a moment of desperation, Asha launches a request to the stars, fulfilled by a small star called Star that rains (literally) from the sky to help her on her path.

Directors are Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, while among the voice actors we find Ariana De Bose (West Side Story) in the part of Stella and Alan Tudyk in the part of the goat Valentino.

The film is slated to release in November 2023. Here is a first image:

The new and interesting Pixar project that we will see in Spring 2024 is Elio , whose protagonist is an eleven-year-old boy with no friends who ends up becoming Ambassador of the Earth among the aliens. Helium is in fact transported across the galaxy and mistaken for an Ambassador of our planet.

Directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Mary Alice Drumm ( Coco, Ribelle - The Brave, Arlo's Journey ), here's a first concept:

The Pixar studios have also announced a sequel to one of their titles: Inside Out 2, which will bring back Amy Poehler (Joy) among the emotions that make up the human soul, after the first film of 2015.

However, we will not find its author and director Pete Docter, who passes the baton to Kelsey Mann as director while returning to the script Meg LeFauve, who has announced that the film will always follow the story of Riley, now a teenager, with all the problems of this age.

The film is expected in 2024.

We come to the end with a live-action sequel to another Disney film but made entirely in CG animation. Mufasa: The Lion King is the sequel to the 2019 film directed by Jon Favreau, the director who leaves the baton to Barry Jenkins.

The release is scheduled for 2024.
