ViQueens is described as a high-energy animated adventure-comedy that blends Norse mythology, action, humor, and themes of courage and cultural connection for global family audiences. The protagonists are two brave Viking girls who embark on a journey from Norway to China to discover some of the wonders of the Asian country such as kites, fireworks and Kung Fu.
The film is directed by veteran Dutch-born but Norwegian-adopted director Harald Zwart, who has worked on international productions such as Karate Kid (2010), Shadowhunters (2013), and Troll (2022). This is his first animated feature film. He also wrote the screenplay with Stella Sophia Zwart and Veslemoey Ruud Zwart, while production is being handled by the Oslo studios Zwart Arbeid and Gimpville.
Presented these days at the Cannes Film Market and in a few weeks also at Annecy, the film features the voices of Rita Ora and Ella Purnell in the leading roles and the participation of the talented Norwegian soccer player Erling Haaland.
Expected in theaters in Norway from December 26, here is a trailer/featurette in English:
