After decades of development, director Brad Bird shows the first images of one of his most exciting projects: Ray Gunn.
The first images have been released of Ray Gunn, the new animated feature film from Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille), a project the writer and director has been brewing in his mind for over 30 years.

The story is set in Metropia, a gigantic city in an alternate future seen from 1939, where private investigator Raymond Gunn (voice of Sam Rockwell) becomes embroiled in a case involving aliens, a murder, and a multimedia star named Venus Nova (voice of Scarlett Johansson).

In visualizing Metropia, Bird drew inspiration from a pre-war, Art Deco-style vision of the future: optimistic and forward-looking. "What if cities became taller and more aerodynamic, if cars could fly, and people had jetpacks as an alternative means of transportation?" Bird asks.

Produced by Skydance Animation and featuring animation from Cinesite Studios, the film is scheduled for release later this year exclusively on Netflix.
