Mamoru Oshii directs new anime Armored Trooper Votoms

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the prestigious Japanese studio Sunrise, the studios have announced a new anime in the Armored Trooper Votoms franchise. More information and first teaser below.
Armored Trooper Votoms is a mecha anime series directed by Ryosuke Takahashi and produced by Sunrise. It first aired in 1983, followed by series, OVAs, and feature films. The last production in the franchise was in 2011.
The story centers on Chirico Cuvie, an armored soldier on the run from his own army after being betrayed while on a mission to steal military secrets. Hidden in a den of criminals and refugees, he must fight to survive, only to discover that his fate is tied to that of a mysterious woman who could shake the entire galaxy.
The new anime project Armored Trooper Votoms: Die Graue Hexe is directed by Mamoru Oshii (Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, Jin-Roh), the flagship project of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Sunrise studios, a project developed in collaboration with Production I.G.
No other information has been released at this time other than the expected release date, scheduled for 2026.
