Official trailer for the upcoming Studio Ponoc's anime The Imaginary

The official trailer of the awaited new anime from Studio Ponoc has just been released. Below by a minute and a half inside the world of The Imaginary.
The second feature film produced by the young Japanese animation studio founded by Yoshiaki Nishimura, born in 1977, a long-time producer at the Studio Ghibli is titled The Imaginary (in Japan Yaneura no Rudger) and is the adaptation of the book of the same name by A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett.

The film tells the story of Rudger, a boy born from the imagination of the young Amanda that therefore no one can see and who lives in a world where the imagination can live and be eaten by others. An extraordinarily touching and beautiful hand-drawn fantasy film in which Rudger and his new friends from "The Imaginaries Town" embark on an adventure where the future and fate of those they love is at stake.

The film is directed by Yoshiyuki Momose (former character designer of Studio Ghibli) and produced by Nishimura, with the theatrical release delayed for a year and a half due to the pandemic and new animation techniques integrated with current production.

It will be released in Japan on December 15, before going outside the national borders.
