New trailer for Rumiko Takahashi's MAO upcoming anime
From the brilliant Rumiko Takahashi (Lum, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha) comes a new anime adaptation: MAO. A new trailer below.
When Nanoka travels back in time to a supernatural early 20th century, she gets recruited by aloof exorcist Mao. What is the thread of fate that connects them? Together, they seek answers... and kick some demon butt along the way!
Nanoka passes through a portal into the Taisho era, where exorcist Mao reluctantly rescues her from the jaws of a grotesque yokai. When Nanoka gets back to the present, she discovers she has some new, incredible abilities. She returns to the past looking for answers, only to get caught up in Mao's investigation of a series of gruesome murders.
This is the synopsis of the manga MAO by Rumiko Takahashi published since 2019 which becomes an anime thanks to Bandai Namco Filmworks and the prestigious studios Sunrise.
The series is directed by Teruo Sato (Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, Aikatsu Stars!), with scripts supervised by Yuko Kakihara (2022 Urusei Yatsura, Aikatsu Friends!, Cells at Work!), character designs and animation direction by Yoshihito Hishinuma (Inuyasha, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon), and music by Shu Kanematsu.
The anime will consist of two parts, two cours, which will air consecutively starting April 4 on NHK. There is no information yet on international versions.
