The Japanese film production giant TOHO acquires the animation studio founded by the author and director Masaaki Yuasa.
TOHO (full Toho Kabushiki-gaisha) is a film production company founded in 1932 and based in Chiyoda (Tokyo). In the fiscal year ending February 2024, operating revenue from the anime business increased by 90% for TOHO.

With this acquisition the giant wants to further accelerate the speed of growth of the group's anime business. In a statement, it is specified that the two companies will work to improve the company's production environment and offer more creative opportunities, so that the company's employees and affiliated creators can demonstrate their talent even more than before.

Science Saru is the animation studio founded in February 2013 by the Japanese director Masaaki Yuasa and his friend Korean producer Eunyoung Choi, a studio that quickly distinguished itself for its experiments desired by the director himself, also president of the studio until 4 years ago, a role now passed to Choi.

With her, the studio expanded its philosophy of international expansion by entering into a non-exclusive partnership with Netflix and promising to work with other directors outside of Yuasa.

The studio's productions include films and series as Inu-oh, Devilman CryBaby, Japan Sinks 2020, Ride Your Wave and the latest Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
