The new series of The Smurfs in a few days on Nickelodeon

Read...
More than half a century after their birth, The Smurfs are back with a new CG animated series that kicks off in a few days on the well-known American network.
The Smurfs (in French Les Schtroumpfs) were created in 1958 by the Belgian cartoonist Peyo. In the following decades, after the paper, they landed on the small screen with short films and series, up to the big screens around the world with the last three films produced in 2011, 2013 and 2017.

The new series, made as the latest film with full CG animations, was announced in 2017 and saw its debut last April 2021 in Belgium. Produced by IMPS and Peyo Productions, it was developed by the Belgian publisher Dupuis Audiovisuel and produced 75% in-house at its DreamWall Animation Studios located in the city of Charleroi.

It is a classic pre-school series format, with a first season of 52 episodes of about 11 minutes.

In a few days, September 10 will debut in the US on Nickelodeon. After switching to pay-TV (after 18 months) it will also land on Netflix (network in which the historical series of the 80s is already present).
