Belle - first animations of the new Mamoru Hosoda's anime

The new and anticipated anime from director Mamoru Hosoda comes with the first animations. Below the international trailer for Belle.
The story takes us to the world of Suzu, a 17-year-old high school student who lost her mother at an early age to an accident, and now lives with her father in an uninhabited rural town. Suzu learns of "U", a virtual world in which she joins with an avatar named Belle, whose singing attracts worldwide attention. Here Belle meets a mysterious creature that is shaped like a dragon.

Produced and animated by Tokyo's Studio Chizu, co-founded by Hosoda (author and director), the film is titled Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime (literally "The Princess of Dragons and Freckles"), while in international territory it becomes Belle.

The film is co-produced by Kadokawa, Nippon Television Network, TOHO and, for the first time, also by the Irish studios Cartoon Saloon (Wolfwalkers).

Made in time for the 10th anniversary of the animation studio's founding, the film will talk about themes such as "maturity, family ties and friendship" by bringing the director back into virtual environments as happened on his previous Summer Wars.

Expected on the big Japanese screens in July 2021, here the first international trailer:
