Read...
Produced by 20th Century Studios and Locksmith Animation, the feature Ron's Gone Wrong will be released this year under the Disney brand.
This title is one of those included in Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, a film produced by Locksmith Animation, studios based in London founded by Sarah Smith and Julie Lockhart, which will therefore be released under the Disney brand.

Ron's Gone Wrong however is the only film that is part of this collaboration, while the next films produced by the London studios will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Main character of the story is Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler struggling with the social media age, and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device which is designed to be his instant 'Best Friend out of the Box'. Ron's hilarious malfunctions launch them into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship.

"We're incredibly proud of both the story and artistry of Locksmith's first film, which will roll out to global audiences this October", shared Locksmith co-founders Sarah Smith and Julie Lockhart.

The film is directed by Smith herself (Arthur Christmas) and Pixar veteran Jean-Philippe Vine (story artist on Cars 3 and The Good Dinosaur), co-directed by Octavio Rodriguez (story artist on Coco and The Incredibles 2). The screenplay is written by Peter Baynham (Arthur Christmas) and Smith herself. Executive producers include Locksmith Animation co-founder Julie Lockhart and Chairman: Elisabeth Murdoch (yes, Rupert's daughter).

Animations and special effects are guaranteed by another London studio (but with offices all over the world): DNEG.

Announced to be released last year, then moved to the early part of the year, it is now scheduled for October 22.

Waiting for the trailer, here are the first images:
