Animusic weekend: A Comic Book Saved My Life

Read...

Animusic, our recurring feature that brings together music and animation, takes us to Italy today to listen to the track A Comic Book Saved My Life by Caparezza.

Caparezza is an Italian singer-songwriter, rapper and producer born in 1973. He has released eleven studio albums, the latest of which, "Orbit Orbit", published in 2025.

The music video for the track A Comic Book Saved My Life is entirely handmade; the characters and backgrounds were drawn with crayons on colored paper and animated by hand, frame by frame, using a technique known as "cut-out animation." It wasdirected and animated by Gianluca Maruotti, with illustrations by Gianluca Maruotti, Laura Camelli, and Lorenzo Mò.
