From Argentina, one of the most famous comic book characters in the world, Mafalda, will arrive on the small screens of our homes with a new animated series put into production by Netflix.
Mafalda is 6 years old and hates soup. She behaves like any other girl her age, but she also has a sharp and inquisitive eye on the world and life. She is interested in world problems, such as war, hunger, or racism. When she asks adults for explanations, her questions are always direct and disarming. She is a rebellious spirit, deeply concerned about humanity and the inexplicable contradictions of adults' actions.
The character was conceived by Quino, an Argentine cartoonist born Joaquín Lavado, who passed away in 2020. Mafalda was initially created for an advertising campaign for an appliance company and later appeared in newspapers, books, and magazines around the world, published from 1964 to 1973.
After two series of short films and an animated feature film produced in 1982, the Argentine animation studio MundoLoco CGI will produce a series expected in 2027, using 3D animations produced for Netflix Latinoamérica.
