One Piece anime to get new story arc and restructuring in 2026. Yesterday the special event dedicated to One Piece was held in which the producers announced the news for the new year and story arc.Toei Animation announced in a live stream that it is restructuring the One Piece anime based on the popular manga by Eiichiro Oda.Producer Ryuta Koike announced that starting in January 2026, the anime will be split into two "cours" (parts) for a total of only 26 episodes per year. This represents a substantial reduction compared to previous seasons, which have aired (almost always) one episode per week since its first broadcast in 1999.The current "Egghead" saga will conclude in December. The next one, the "Elbaph" saga, will be released in April 2026.According to Toei Animation, the new schedule will allow episodes to "incorporate more content, tempo, and pacing of the manga while continuing to leverage the unique storytelling that is only possible with animation". The previous sagas were indeed very diluted. Last year, a new editing and summary of the Fish-Man Island Saga was tested, making it much more fluid. In the meantime, here's the first visual of the new story arc:[ Fra - source ANN ].
