Nezumikozo Jirokichi - The return of the japanese director Rintaro

After 14 years of absence from the role of director, RinTaro is back with a short film of which we show you the first image.
One of the best-known Japanese directors RinTaro (Metropolis, Galaxy Express) is back behind the (virtual) camera for a new project: Nezumikozo Jirokichi, a 25-minute silent short film in homage to the work of Sadao Yamanaka, Japanese live-action director who died at the very young age (28).

A co-production between Japanese studios, Genco and M2, and French Miyu.

Synopsis: As the city of Edo sinks into darkness, a man comes out of the attic of a house. It is the famous Jirokichi, nicknamed Nezumikozo/the Rat, a virtuous bandit who robs the rich to distribute them to the poor. Orin, a merchant, leads a difficult life with her baby. Taking advantage of this poor woman's plight, some yakuza try to reveal the true identity of Nezumikozo/the Rat.

The preview of the short film will be held in March in Japan at the Niigata International Animation Film Festival.
