Director Sylvain Chomet returns with Marcel Pagnol biopic

The brilliant French director Sylvain Chomet is ready to return to animated productions after more than ten years of absence. Below is the first informations on his new works.
The visionary French director will return to theaters with The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol, a biopic on the life of a leading figure in mid-20th century art: novelist and filmmaker who sold more than 150 million books worldwide. The film will tell his life through a dialogue between the protagonist as adult and child.

The designs will reportedly change to reflect different eras of history. Pagnol's grandson gave the production access to exclusive archival footage of the man, which will be incorporated into the film.

Producer ON kids & family (Mediawan) immediately jumped on board the project. "As an admirer of Chomet's work", admits the president Aton Soumache, "it will be an honor to bring the intense life of the pioneer Pagnol into animations".

The film will mark Chomet's return to cinema after The Triplets of Belleville (2003), The Illusionist (2010), a unique artist of his kind whose animations are made with a superfine style in a perfect blend of 2D and 3D.

The director is also working on the feature film The Thousand Miles inspired by the work of Federico Fellini but there is no informations on this production.
