The new The Prince of Tennis Movie with a double theatrical version

The particularities of Japanese productions will never cease to amaze us. The latest is anime The Prince of Tennis which will hit theaters in two parallel edits.
The title at home is Ryoma! Shinsei Gekijoban Tennis no Oji-sama (Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie) and is inspired by the manga of the same name by Takeshi Konomi, also supervisor of this new production.

It is directed by Hiroshi Koujina (HunterXHunter) at The Monk Studios and Keica, with the collaboration of Studio KAI. The screenplay is written by Takehiko Hata (Lupin III: Goodbye Partner) with Patricia Hishikawa CG supervisor, Kei Yoshimizu animation director and Momoko Yamada CG director.
The author Konomi participated in the drafting of some songs (including the rap of the characters).

The original manga inspired a television anime (2001-2005), two anime feature films and a theatrical short film, various anime video projects, a live-action film, a live-action television series in China and a popular theatrical music series and others. side projects.

The film's story begins with the main lead Ryoma arriving in the United States, and finding Sakuno Ryuzaki being accosted by a "tennis gang." Ryoma swings a ball at them to help Sakuno, but ends up hitting a ball tossed by a mysterious wheelchaired man. At that moment, Ryōma and Sakuno somehow travel back in time to the time when Ryoma's father Nanjiro was still playing in America as "Samurai Nanjiro."

Originally scheduled for last year, then canceled due to the pandemic, the film is now expected in Japanese theaters on September 3, 2021 in which it will arrive in two different versions with the same story but from two different points of view: the Decide version will follow Seigaku team captain "Kunimitsu Tezuka" and Rikkai team captain "Seiichi Yukimura", while the Glory version will follow Hyotei team captain "Keigo Atobe" and Shitenhoji team captain "Kuranosuke Shiraishi".
