First official image for Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon
Disney unveils the first official image of its upcoming film Raya and the Last Dragon along with a new cast of directors, producers and voice actors, a symptom of problems within the studios.
Everything was announced seven months before the official release. A choice that could compromise the success of the title produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. A bomb that hit some of the most important figures of the staff, with the announcement of new directors and co-directors along with a new producer and new voice cast.

The current directors are Don Hall (Big Hero 6) and Carlos López Estrada, while the co-directors are Paul Briggs (head of story of Big Hero 6, Frozen) and John Ripa (head of story of Moana), to whom you adds producer Peter Del Vecho.

Briggs in 2018 was presented as director along with Dean Wellins, but the first is now co-director and Wellins is no longer part of the cast.

Obviously, Disney has announced the new cast but has not specified when this has taken over the project, as seven months are very few to give a general change to the film.

Here are the words of the chief creative officer Jennifer Lee:
"As filmmakers, Don and Carlos bring a combination of animation know-how and emotional storytelling to Raya and the Last Dragon, bringing our fantasy adventure to surprising, original, and dynamic heights. They both saw the potential for this film and had a strong vision for the story, especially for our lead character, played by the wonderfully talented Kelly Marie Tran. And no small feat, directors Don and Carlos, writers Qui and Adele, and the entire crew of 400 Disney Animation artists are making this film together, while separated and working from home."

The film, whose story is clearly inspired by Southeast Asian myths, is set in a fantasy world in which in the past humans and dragons lived in harmony. A past in which the earth was threatened by some monsters, the Druuns, threatened the life of dragons, sacrificed for the good of the earth. Today 500 years later, a lone warrior, Raya, must go in search of the last dragon to fight the return of the Druuns.

Expected in theaters worldwide in March 2021, you will find the first image at the head and a poster below:
