The NBC series The Blacklist ends the season in animations

Due to the global health pandemic, not all live action serial productions managed to complete the shooting sessions of the planned episodes. The example is the acclaimed The Blacklist whose ending has received unexpected help.
Season n. 7 of the crime thriller serial will end tonight (in US) with a particular episode, n. 19 titled "The Kazanjian Brothers" (episodes 20, 21 and 22 of the season have been canceled).

The filming of the episode was taking place in recent weeks in New York, production closed abruptly due to the health emergency. The authors then came up with the idea of adding scenes created with animations to overcome the missing ones.

The cast members (James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Amir Arison, Hisham Tawfiq, Harry Lennix) recorded the dialogues each from their homes, after integrated into the scenes created in computer graphics by the studios Proof Inc. (Aladdin [2019], Spider-Man: Far From Home), from their offices in Atlanta and London.

This episode consists of 21 minutes of live action and 20 minutes of animation, made in about five weeks by the animators, times that influenced the quality and expressiveness of the models.

An example that however convinced the production, defined as a sort of graphic novel that can therefore conceive the grafting of other genres such as the one animated inside.

Here a sneak peek of the episode:
