Alita: Battle Angel - Rodriguez between animations and live-action

Read...
Its a manga written and illustrated by Yukito Kishiro in 1991 which now becomes a hybrid blockbuster created with a lots of computer graphics mixed with live-action.
The original title is Alita: Battle Angel, a movie directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids) and written by Rodriguez with Laeta Kalogridis and James Cameron (yes, Avatar director!).

The original manga is titled Gunnm, translated by the american distributor Viz Communication with Battle Angel Alita, changing the name of the main character from Gally to Alita.

The story takes place in a future where technology is merged with the medical sector and the social classes are increasingly divided. Alita is a young cyborg girl whose brain was installed inside a robotic body by cyberdoctor Daisuke Ido who finds her in a landfill. The young woman is without memory, but her past will soon visit her.

A hybrid movie with a large use of computer graphics, such as the main character, Alita (with motion-capture), and many of the villains, stage elements and more, a huge work by Weta Digital, Double Negative and Framestore.

Alita: Battle Angel will be released in the U.S. on December 21. Here the full trailer:
