He has gathered acclaim and awards all over the world. Let's take a look at the anime considered by many as best series of 2017: Made in Abyss.
Taken from the manga with the same name written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi and published online on the Manga Life Win site of Takeshobo since 2012 (still in progress), has been transposed into anime by Kinema Citrus and broadcast last summer in Japan.

The animated series is directed by Masayuki Kojima, composed by 13 episodes (about 24 min.) and has been very well received. A sequel is in production.

The young orphan Rico is the protagonist of the story, child who lives in the city of Osu, a city that is located close to the Abyss, a chasm that opens in the land whose depth is unknown and inside which are hidden both precious treasures that dangerous creatures. The last unexplored place in the world tempts treasure hunters, the "Cave Raiders", and young Rico wants to become one of these, trying to follow in the footsteps of his missing mother. His adventures will begin when, during one of his explorations, he will come across a half-human and half-robot child.

A story very well written, exciting and spread on a good length series, just 13 episodes, are the basis of the success of this work. Illustrations and animations are excellent, another point of its success. But awarded the last Crunchyroll awards was also the soundtrack, composed by Kevin Penkin.

Among the scores we can remember 8.6/10 on Imdb, Best Anime of the year on Crunchyroll, Best TV Series at NekoAwards (AnimeClick), 8.9/10 on MyAnimeList and more.
