New trailer and release date for Production I.G's The Deer King


The new anime from the well-known Japanese animation studio Production I.G, postponed due to the pandemic, moves further and comes with a new trailer.


The original title is Shika no O: Yuna to Yakusoku no Tabi (The Deer King: The Promised Journey With Yuna) based on the fantasy novels series written by Nahoko Uehashi, film directed by Masashi Ando (character design of Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, your name and director of animations by Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, When Marnie Was There, your name), also characterr animator and animation director, co-directed by Masayuki Miyaji and written by Taku Kishimoto.

The stories feature Van, the leader of a group of soldiers trying to defend their homes from an empire that wants to subdue them. Instead of killing them, however, they are enslaved and bound in a salt mine. One night, during a strange dog attack, Van manages to escape and meets a young girl. In the meantime, a mysterious disease begins to spread that the medical scientist Hossal tries to cure. The events will tell the stories of the survivors and fugitives and the destiny they face.

With the release in theaters canceled first in September 2020 and then in September 2021, now the last release date announced is February 4, 2022 in Japan.
