The Abandoned House by the Cape is the new David Prod. anime

A new anime was announced a few days ago which we will see next year. It is titled Misaki no Mayoiga and it is created by David Production. Below the first animations.

Misaki no Mayoiga (The Abandoned House by the Cape) is based on Sachiko Kashiwaba novel with the same name. The film is directed by Shinya Kawatsura whileReiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Violet Evergarden, Liz and the Blue Bird) is writing the script.

The story centers around a traditional Japanese house named "Mayoiga" (named after the Japanese folkloric concept of an abandoned yet well-kept home) from where one can see the sea and feel the touch of warmth and nostalgia. Here, a 17-year-old girl who is trying to find her place in the world begins a new life with people completely unrelated to her.

The original novel was published in 2015 and in 2016 won the Japanese Noma award for best Juvenile Fiction. Kashiwaba himself is also the author of Chikashitru Kara no Fushigi na Tabi which inspired Keiichi Hara's The Wonderland film.

The anime will premiere in 2021. Here the first teaser and a poster:
