The Summit of the Gods - Jiro Taniguchi's manga in a film

Is a French production a new feature animated film The Summit of the Gods (orig. Le Sommet des Dieux) presented with the first animations these days in Annecy. Below the first teaser.

The film is directed by Patrick Imbert with the screenplay by Magali Pouzol, Patrick Imbert and Jean-Charles Ostoréro, based on the manga of the great Jiro Taniguchi tragically passed away in 2017, very close to France where in 2011 he was nominated Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

The story begins in Kathmandu. Japanese photoreporter Fukamachi accidentally comes across a camera that may well have belonged to Mallory, a famous mountaineer who disappeared in 1924. But a stranger comes along and takes the camera before Fukamachi gets a chance to see if the film is still inside. When he gets back Tokyo, the reporter finds out who the man was: Habu, a mysterious mountaineer who fell off the radar in 1985 after deserting an expedition to Everest with wounded pride.

Presented as a project currently under production at Annecy, it should be completed in 2021.
