Bocchi the Rock! � a prequel film featuring Seika in 2027

An anime film based on the Bocchi the Rock! manga has been announced. A special project tied to the 2022 anime series. See below for the poster and first promotional video.

Aki Hamaji first began serializing the manga in 2017, and it remains ongoing.
An anime adaptation arrived in 2022, consisting of a first season - later revisited in theaters as two compilation films - with a second season already announced but yet to be released.

While the main series centers on the shy, introverted protagonist - who takes up her father's old passion for music, specifically the electric guitar, as a way to fit in and make new friends - this new film serves as a prologue, focusing on Seika, the older sister of Nijika Ichiji.

Titled Bocchi the Rock! the Movie: Footprints of the Stars (orig. Eiga Bocchi the Rock! Hoshi no Ashiato), the story adapts the special chapter "Hoshi ni Tamukeru Ai no Hana", which appears at the end of the fifth volume of the manga.

The film is directed by Shin Wakabayashi at the studio CloverWorks, with Erika Yoshida - who also worked on the television anime - penning the script, and Yukiko Horiguchi serving as character designer.
