The open-source 3D modeling and animation software Blender takes a leap forward by unveiling the teaser for its first feature film project.
After 20 years of short films, Blender Studio is ready to tackle an ambitious new project: a feature film! Support the studio team as they develop a great story and build a free, open source playbook for creating large-scale animated productions.
Blender, the free, open-source 3D modeling and animation software (used to create the Oscar-winner film Flow), has unveiled a teaser for a new project involving creatives from around the globe. The project was launched to document and share the creative process behind its production.
The open project is a feature-length film titled Overgrown, and another 7,000 backers are needed to bring it to completion.
Written by Hjalti Hjálmarsson, directed by Hjálmarsson and Rik Schutte and produced by Fiona Cohen e Francesco Siddi, the story is set in a post-human robo-apocalyptic world reclaimed by nature. As the unlikely family duo survives in the brave new world, their adventure unfolds into a fast-paced river of hardship, wonder, and personal transformation.
