Golden Axe - The iconic SEGA video game becomes an animated series

A new adaptation, this time of a classic video game produced 37 years ago, will hit small screens around the world this September. Info and a trailer for the animated series Golden Axe below.

In an homage to SEGA's iconic 1989 video game, Golden Axe follows legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they reunite to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just won't seem to stay dead. Their quest is complicated by Hampton Squib, an inexperienced and wildly underprepared adventurer whose dream of heroism far exceeds his abilities. Forced to work together despite their flaws, they must find a way to stop Death Adder once and for all.

The series is produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions, Original Film, Sega, Sony Pictures Television and the animations produced by Titmouse. It is created by Joe Chandler (American Dad!) and Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks).

The premiere of Golden Axe is scheduled for September 16 on the Paramount+ platform.
