D23 - Sequel and news for Disney and Pixar
At D23, the annual Disney fan event held in California, current production titles and upcoming releases were presented. Read everything related to the animated world below.
The previously presented Hexed (November 2026) [news], Gatto [news] on March 5, 2027 and Bluey - The Movie on August 6, 2027 are expected in the very near future.
Here is the teaser for Bluey - The Movie:
- Frozen 3. The third installment of Disney's multi-billion dollar saga will hit theaters worldwide in time for Christmas 2027, November 24th, and will tell the story of Anna and Kristoff's wedding, interrupted by a new antagonist.
- Ghost Market is the new Pixar original film, expected in Spring 2028, starring Kyle, a teenager and content creator from Chicago who, during a vacation in Hawaii, discovers a hidden market on the border between the worlds of the living and the dead. Directed by Trevor Jimenez.
- The Incredibles 3, the new superhero film from Pixar, will hit theaters in Summer 2028 (June 16th), with a story directly connected to the second film, which features the superhero family's children, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. This film marks the return of Brad Bird to the screenplay, with Peter Sohn (Elemental) directing.
- For the Christmas 2028 season, we return to Disney with the original film Clay, directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn.
- Coco 2 from Pixar, is set for November 2029 and will once again feature Miguel, now a teenager, returning to the Land of the Dead. The directorial duo of Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina will return, just like the first installment.
- Zootopia 3 is in the works, but currently has no release date. This new installment follows the success of the second installment and will bring back the entire team, including Gary De'Snake, this time dealing with a problem with the birds.
