Concept of the French-American series Junichiro Jackson
Today we presents a proof-of-concept animated series Junichiro Jackson, a co-production between French and American studios.
A psychological thriller set in a near-future Brooklyn where neo-noir, supernatural horror, action, and dark humor collide. Picture Drive and Mr. Robot's lonely cool, Oldboy's twisted mystery, and the music-soaked soul of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, all crashing into one ride. JJ is our love letter to anime, hip-hop, and the city at 2 A.M., when the monsters come out to play.
Junichiro Jackson is a lone-wolf private investigator in a near-future Brooklyn, where technology and overconsumption have left the city’s residents numb. He takes on routine missing-person cases to make ends meet and look after his ill mother.
For the most part, the job is easy: scoping out cheating spouses and putting them on blast, tracking down runaways, the occasional bounty gig. But when Joy, the 19-year-old daughter of a powerful mob kingpin, goes missing, JJ has no choice but to take the case.
Junichiro Jackson or JJ is a project created and written by Marco Balsamo at the French studio TeamTO together with the American studio Martian Blueberry (The Boondocks, Black Dynamite). The production is seeking funding on Kickstarter with a recently launched campaign [link].
Here is the first video featuring the two stories, "VENUS CRASH LANDING" directed by Havtza and "LUCY, I'M HOME" directed by Slimane Aniss:
