Mu-Ki-Ra - A journey into Colombian culture

The feature film Mu-Ki-Ra, a colorful and charming musical comedy that will be presented at the famous Swiss children's festival next August, is still in production.

Mu-Ki-Ra is directed by Estefania Piñeres Duque, a Colombian actress, writer, and director known for the Netflix series Delirio and the animated short Color-ido, and writte by María Barro Guntín. It is produced by the Colombian studios Letrario and the Spanish studios Abano Producions (run by five-time Goya Award winner Chelo Loureiro).

In a land haunted by monsters made of vegetation, Cleo, a 13-year-old girl, faces her worst nightmare when her little brother, Martín, is captured by one of them. With the help of Iolo, a magical old woman, and a funny anteater as a traveling companion, Cleo will venture deep into the jungle to catch Mukira, the monster that took Martín. Cleo will soon learn that monsters hide a surprising secret beneath their enormous fur coats.

The 85-minute film, created entirely with 2D animation, will premiere at Locarno Kids, the Swiss film festival taking place in August, after being presented in Annecy and Cannes.
