Hiro Yuki's novel, 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku, translated as "20th Century Electricity Catalog", will be adapted into a television anime titled Sparks of Tomorrow.

The novel is set in the summer of 1907. Fifteen-year-old Inako Momokawa lives in the Fushimi area of Kyoto, the second daughter of a sake brewer. Nothing she does ever turns out well, and she receives daily scolding from her father. Her only solace is the trust she places in her prayers to the gods. One day at the shrine, she meets a young man named Kihachi Sakamoto, who rejects the gods and boasts of the coming age of electricity. The two begin dating and plan to move, even against her father's wishes, and set out in search of a book of predictions about electricity that Kihachi wrote as a child and then lost to his older brother.

Announced by Kyoto Animation in 2018, the anime is directed by Minoru Ota (an animator making his directorial debut), with Tatsuhiko Urahata serving as script supervisor, Kohei Okamura serving as chief animator and character designer, and Hitomi Koto music composer.

The anime will be broadcast worldwide exclusively on Netflix and on the Japanese channels Tokyo MX, BS11, ABCT TV and TV Aichi from the night of July 5 with a new episode every Sunday night.
