Mexican film I Am Frankelda lands on Netflix

Presented last year at Annecy and nominated for the Annie Awards, the feature film I Am Frankelda arrives on Netflix.

At home Soy Frankelda, is the feature film released in Mexican cinemas last October produced by Woo Films together with Cinema Fantasma, acclaimed studios in Mexico City founded in 2011 by brothers Arturo and Roy Ambriz.

Frankelda, a determined 19th-century Mexican writer, journeys into her subconscious to face the monsters she’s written about. Guided by a tormented prince, she must restore the balance between fiction and reality before it’s too late.

Written and directed by the Ambriz brothers and supported by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, the feature film uses stop-motion animation - the first film produced with this tecnique in Mexico - and blends comedy, musical, fantasy, and horror.

It will be available worldwide on Netflix from June 12. Here's the international trailer:
