Arco by Ugo Bienvenu is the Best European Animated Film of 2025
Last weekend, the awards for the best European films, the European Film Awards, were presented. In the animated production section, the French film triumphed.
The story's premise is simple: what if rainbows were actually time travelers crossing the sky? In his first flight through time, Arco, a 10-year-old boy, falls from the year 3000 into our near future. His fall is witnessed by a little girl, Iris, who decides to help him return home.
Arco is the first feature film directed by Ugo Bienvenu, which he co-wrote with Félix de Givry and produced at the Parisian studios Remembers founded by Bienvenu and de Givry. The film is produced by Natalie Portman through her company MountainA (founded with Sophie Mas) with the production participation of Netflix and France Télévisions.
Released in theaters in France in October, it is expected in several other markets in the coming months. In addition to the award for Best European Animated Film it recently received, it was also awarded the Cristal Award at Annecy, a Lumiere Award, a New York Film Critics Award, is also nominated for the Annie Awards and will probably even compete for the Oscars.
