Homer returns to theaters: The second Simpsons movie is in production.

Yes, finally there's official news and a date: the new The Simpsons movie is already in production, but we'll have to wait.

20th Century Studios released a teaser poster a few hours ago, along with a date followed by the phrase, "Woohoo! The Simpsons are coming to theaters with an all-new movie on July 23, 2027!"

The poster reads, "Homer's coming back for seconds" and a hand grasping a donut decorated with numerous number "2s".

After finishing the first film in 2007, its creator, Matt Groening, declared it a laborious and titanic undertaking. He'll have needed twenty years to rest.
