English trailer for the acclaimed film The Glassworker

The animated feature film The Glassworker, the first 2D animated production produced in Pakistan and destined for theaters, has been released with english trailer just days before its US theatrical release.

The Glassworker is made with freehand drawings, as in the most classic of traditions. It is directed by Usman Riaz, debuted last year at Annecy, and is Pakistan's nominee for Best Foreign Feature Film at the upcoming Academy Awards.

The film centers on a father and son who run the finest glass workshop in a country inspired by Pakistan. An approaching war turns tears their lives apart, and the arrival of an army colonel and his talented violinist daughter Alliz tests the relationship between father and son.

Is made by Pakistani studios Mano Animation Studios and Awedacious Original, with veteran Spanish animator Manuel Cristobal (Wrinkles, Bunuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles) and Khizer Riaz producers and Apoorva Bakshi executive producer.

"An adventure that began 10 years ago" admits the director, "which no one would have bet would end with the presentation in Annecy among the best films from all over the world. We are grateful to the organizers for selecting us. The Glassworker is not just a film, it represents the power of perseverance".

Released in theaters in Japan last summer, it will arrive in the US on August 14.
