Batman dresses as a Mexican in Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires
The Dark Knight's adventures are imagined within the Aztec Empire in the new feature film Warner Bros. Animation, combining history, spirituality, and adventure. Info and trailer follow.
The story's protagonist is Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec destined to inherit the leadership of his community. But his life changes forever when the Spanish, led by Hernán Cortés, arrive in the New World and kill his father. Seeking revenge and justice, Yohualli finds refuge in the temple of the bat god Tzinacan, where he undertakes training that will transform him into a fearsome masked warrior.
Presented at San Diego Comic-Con Int., Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires (originally Aztec Batman: Choque de Imperios) dramatizes the clash of two worlds: Mesoamerican civilization and the European invasion, featuring DC Comics characters with designs strongly inspired by Aztec aesthetics.
Directed by Juan Meza-León and written by Ernie Altbacker, the film is produced by Anima, Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Chatrone, and Particular Crowd.
Expected in Mexican theaters on September 18, it will be released on home video, like all DC/Warner animated titles, on September 19 and in physical formats on September 23.
