Stefano Bollani is the author of the music for Chomet's new film
The new and long-awaited film by the brilliant author and director Sylvain Chomet will be presented these days at the Cannes Film Festival and will be released in theaters at the end of the year.
The title is Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol, internationally The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol, and it is Chomet's return to animated cinema after Appointment à Belleville (2003) and The Illusionist (2010).
The feature film will be a biopic on the life of a leading figure in mid-20th century art: Marcel Pagnol, a writer and filmmaker whose books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide. The film will tell his life story through a dialogue between his adult self and his childhood self.
Yesterday the Italian composer, pianist and singer Stefano Bollani posted on his social media:
"A few years ago I wrote a love letter to Sylvain Chomet, the brilliant director and animator... I told him how much I love his films. He wrote back, inviting me to his house in Normandy to meet.
Today I can finally share this news with you: I composed the music for his new animated film Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol... Long live love letters!"
