An interesting animated short movie created in computer graphics by a group of French students wins the famous SIGGRAPH. Below the trailer.
We're talking about the most important annual computer graphics conference, born in 1974, pioneer of the most important news about CG techniques, attended by tens of thousands of computer professionals.

The 45th conference will be held in Vancouver from 12 to 16 August and has already announced the award winners.

The Best in Show prize is the French student film Hybrids, a graduate project created by Florian Brauch, Kim Tailhades, Matthieu Pujol, Yohan Thireau and Romain Thirion at Motion Picture in Arles. The six-minute animated movie imagines an underwater world where the creatures of Earth's oceans have found unique ways to adapt to the pollution around them.

A short movie presented in many festivals around the world, winning Best VFX in a Student Project at the VES Awards, the Amazon Audience Award from Stuttgart, and a Jury Distinction at Annecy.

Here the trailer:

Other SIGGRAPH awards: the Jury Choice Award to DreamWorks Animation's Bilby and the Best Student Project to Overrun from the French school Supinfocom Rubika, directed by Pierre Ropars, Antonin Derory, Diane Thirault, Jérémie Cottard, Matthieu Druaud and Adrien Zumbihl.
